Subtle Resistance

Mankind is easily blinded by sight, needing something tangible to blame for our woes.

Pointing the finger makes it easy to take the blame off self without ever realizing that our deepest pain and troubles often come from forces unseen and within our collective psyche, an apology never uttered, a conversation never to be had.

It is not until we grow wise to recognize that the power to resist racism and all other social injustices goes beyond a one day march, can we begin to bring into fruition the change that we envision for this land that we love.

Resisting racism goes beyond public discourse and written publications

Resisting racism is more subtle yet more powerful

It is in our day to day encounters

The private conversations we have with our friends and family

The jokes we tell or listen to at the expense of others

The way we treat people who are different from us

The beliefs that we hold about ourselves and others

And most importantly, who we are when nobody is watching.

Resisting racism is being courageous

Resisting racism is holding the unfavorable opinion and maybe losing a friend or two for it.

Resisting racism is not glamorized, remember it was said that the revolution will not be televised.

Every day is a day to be a champion for resistance and it starts with us.

I remain, resist racism 365.
